Together, Supporting Children and Families to Thrive

At Kingsway Primary School, we understand that children and families thrive best when schools work closely with others. We are a deliberately outward‑facing and forward‑thinking school, committed to learning from and working alongside a wide range of external professionals, services and partner schools.

Strong partnership working enables us to:

  • respond early and effectively to children’s needs
  • support families holistically
  • strengthen safeguarding and wellbeing
  • improve learning outcomes
  • continually develop and refine our practice

Collaboration is not an add‑on at Kingsway – it is a core part of how we care for children.

A shared responsibility for children’s wellbeing and success

We recognise that schools cannot, and should not, work in isolation. Children’s needs are complex, multi‑faceted and change over time. By working in partnership with external agencies, we ensure that:

  • support is coordinated, not fragmented
  • expertise is shared
  • decisions are informed by professional knowledge
  • children’s welfare remains central

This reflects our relational approach and our belief that people, not policies, make the difference.

Health and wellbeing partnerships

Kingsway works closely with health professionals to support children’s physical, emotional and developmental wellbeing. This includes partnership with:

  • School Nursing Service – supporting health, medical needs and family guidance
  • Occupational Health / Occupational Therapy – supporting sensory, physical and functional needs
  • Speech and Language Therapy – supporting communication, interaction and language development
  • CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) – supporting children’s emotional and mental health needs

These partnerships ensure that advice and strategies are embedded into everyday classroom and pastoral practice.

Educational and psychological support

To deepen our understanding of children’s learning, behaviour and development, we work closely with:

  • Educational Psychology Service – supporting assessment, consultation and intervention planning
  • Longford Park Outreach – providing specialist support and guidance for children with complex social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Local Authority professionals and SEND services, including the EHC Team

This collaborative work strengthens our inclusive practice and ensures support is evidence‑informed and responsive.

Safeguarding, early help and family support

Safeguarding at Kingsway is built on strong partnership working. We collaborate closely with:

  • Trafford Team Together (TTT) – coordinating early help and multi‑agency support for families
  • First Response – responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
  • Trafford Social Care Services – working with social workers and professionals to support vulnerable children
  • Trafford Housing – supporting families where housing or living circumstances impact wellbeing and attendance

These partnerships ensure that children receive the right support, at the right time, in the right way.

SEND and parent support services

We value services that provide specialist knowledge and independent guidance for families, including:

  • SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service) – offering impartial support to parents and carers
  • Trafford Local Authority SEND services, providing guidance and oversight of inclusive provision

Working alongside these services ensures transparency, trust and shared understanding with families.

Working with other schools

Kingsway is committed to professional learning through collaboration with other schools.

This includes:

  • working within the Inspiring Learners Multi‑Academy Trust to share practice, reflect and improve together
  • collaboration with local primary schools across Trafford for cluster learning, moderation and professional dialogue
  • partnership with local secondary schools, particularly to support children in Year 6 with effective, well‑planned transition to high school

These partnerships strengthen continuity for children and promote shared responsibility across education phases.

A learning organisation

Kingsway Primary School is a reflective and learning‑focused organisation. We actively seek out opportunities to:

  • learn from external professionals
  • reflect on our practice
  • adapt our approaches in response to emerging needs
  • ensure staff development is informed by current evidence and expertise

All staff are encouraged to engage with professional learning opportunities and to contribute to ongoing school development.

A relational and inclusive approach

All partnership work at Kingsway is underpinned by:

  • strong relationships
  • shared respect
  • clear communication
  • child‑centred decision‑making

Families are involved wherever possible, and support is always coordinated around the child’s best interests.

Our commitment

Kingsway Primary School is committed to:

  • being outward‑facing and collaborative
  • strengthening partnerships with health, education and social care services
  • learning continuously from others
  • providing the best possible support for children and families
  • ensuring children feel safe, supported and able to succeed

By working in partnership, we ensure that children at Kingsway are supported not only as learners, but as valued individuals within a wider community network.
